Weather and seasons: Estonia
Use this page to explore the weather in Estonia. The forecast point is Tallinn; its temperature, rain and wind describe that location, not an average for the country. The regional background below explains what to consider when comparing the map with your destination. It is not a country climate classification or a forecast for a particular season.
Europe: coast, inland and high ground
Place matters as much as the season
Europe includes Atlantic coastlines, continental interiors, Mediterranean areas and high mountains. Conditions can differ considerably between them on the same day. Greater latitude changes the seasonal pattern of daylight, while distance from the sea and elevation also shape local weather. A forecast for a coastal capital should not be transferred directly to an inland valley or a mountain route. This regional overview is a starting point, not a climate description for every European country.
Read the moving weather
Compare several radar frames to see how precipitation develops, then check the forecast for the hours that matter. Radar observations and future animation frames are different kinds of information. Mountain terrain, coverage limits and differing national networks can create gaps or changes in detail. Satellite imagery helps show the wider cloud pattern; clouds alone do not establish whether rain reaches the ground.
Plan for the destination
Use local climate records to compare travel months and current forecasts to plan a particular day. Spring and autumn can bring very different conditions at low and high elevations. Before a journey across borders, check each relevant national weather service. Read the warning text, affected area and valid period rather than assuming that a familiar colour has exactly the same meaning everywhere.
